The Liverpool Brand Photography Studio I Love Most

Recently, a lot of my work as a Liverpool brand photographer has been happening at No Filter Studios in Birkenhead, one of the most versatile Liverpool brand photography studios I've ever shot in, just across the water and a short drive from the city centre.
It's an open, creative space that has become one of my favourite places to shoot, and it's pretty obvious why when you see inside.
I even filmed free posing video there!
What Makes This One of My Favourite Liverpool Brand Photography Studios

No Filter Studios isn't your average white box studio.
It's a large, naturally lit space with high ceilings, exposed white brick, and a nice variety of distinct sets, each one movable, adaptable, and suited to different styles.
There's an infinity cove for editorial work, a bed with beautiful natural light streaming across it, a podcast setup, a stage for speakers, beautiful arched shapes, and sheer curtains that catch the light in the most gorgeous way.
Rolling backdrops in different textures and tones, furniture and soft furnishings that can be rearranged depending on where the sun is and what kind of mood we're going for. Even the pedestals move.
Everything is naturally lit (very much my preference), though panel lights are available for phone content if needed, and depending on the season and the type of photoshoot, I'll often bring my own photography lights.
Since the UK leans toward cloudy most of the year, for brand photography in Liverpool, having this much natural light and this many set options in one location is pretty rare.
Fun fact: the building used to be a nightclub and have even shot clients in the space who went to it when it still was!

The Practical Bits
The entire studio is up a couple of flights of steep stairs, which helps get more beautiful window light (no tall buildings nearby causing shadows).
Up a small set of stairs, there's a kitchen with tea and fridge space, somewhere to take a proper break if you're here for a longer shoot day.
There's also a dedicated makeup and wardrobe room with a steamer so you can smooth out any outfit creases before we get started.
It's a bit of a maze when you first arrive, and clients almost always do a double-take when they realise just how much space is tucked inside.

What to Look for When Choosing a Studio for Your Brand Shoot
If you're searching for a content studio in Liverpool or a natural light studio near Birkenhead, here's what I'd always recommend prioritising.
Natural light first.
Big windows and soft, ambient light (rather than harsh overhead fluorescents) will make the biggest difference to how your images feel. No Filter Studios is flooded with it, and on bright days the quality of light in here is incredible.
Space to move.
Wide shots, negative space for web banners, room to change between sets without feeling cramped. You want breathing room, and this place has loads of it.
White walls and light flooring.
These surfaces bounce light beautifully and give images that clean, editorial feel, although watch out for hot-spots on the floor (I bring black towels to help reduce the upcasting of highlights). Warm-toned wood floors and orange or yellow cabinets cast unwanted colour tones on skin, so it's worth checking before you book.
Versatility.
The best studio for a brand shoot is one that can hold multiple looks without you needing to travel between locations. Whether you need something editorial and clean, warm and relaxed, or bold and architectural, having options within the same space saves time and keeps your energy up throughout the day.
Practical extras.
A makeup and wardrobe room, a steamer for outfits, and somewhere to make tea and take a break if you're here for a longer shoot day.
What to avoid.
Reflective surfaces like glossy cupboards can bounce light back in unpredictable ways and make editing tricky. Cramped or dark spaces are difficult to work around, no matter how good the brief is. And if a location just doesn't feel right for your brand, trust that instinct.
Why Shooting in a Studio is One of the Best Investments You Can Make for Your Brand
There's something that happens when you're photographed in a beautiful, curated space. The energy reads differently, and people notice.
Choosing to shoot in a proper studio is a statement. It signals that you take your brand seriously, that you value quality, and that you're not piecing things together on a shoestring.
That kind of visual confidence is contagious, and it's exactly what attracts the calibre of clients you're trying to reach. Abundance breeds abundance, and how you show up in your imagery is a big part of how people decide whether you're the right person for them.
Beyond the look, there are deeply practical reasons why studio shoots almost always outperform the alternatives, especially in the UK.
The weather is not your friend.
Anyone who has planned an outdoor shoot in the northwest knows the anxiety of watching the forecast the week before. Studios remove that entirely. Whatever is happening outside, we are completely unaffected. No rescheduling, no compromising on location because the light disappeared, no standing in a drizzle trying to look unbothered.
Cafes are unpredictable.
The lighting is often warm and patchy, the background is rarely clean, and there's always the low-level stress of whether you're about to be asked to leave. A studio gives you the whole space, the whole time, with no interruptions and no background noise.
Privacy matters.
For a lot of my clients, having their photo taken is already a vulnerable experience. Doing it in a public space with strangers walking past adds a layer of self-consciousness that doesn't serve anyone. In a studio, you can relax into it, try more things, laugh when something goes wrong, and fully drop into the experience without an audience.
You get more variety.
One studio, multiple sets, multiple looks, multiple backdrops. The range of images you walk away with from a studio shoot is almost always broader than what's possible in a single outdoor location or cafe corner, which means more content, more versatility, and more value from a single shoot day.
The businesses that consistently show up with polished, professional imagery are the ones that have decided their brand is worth investing in. A studio shoot is one of the clearest ways to make that decision visible.
The Kinds of Businesses I've Photographed Here
What keeps me coming back is how well this space holds such different brands and personalities.
In this space, I've been honored to photograph:
safety product company CEO
marketing agency
podcast host
therapist
life coache
yoga instructor
vocal coache
illustrator
menopause coach
graphic designer
somatic coache
solicitor
teacher
authors, and more
Every business is different, and every brand has its own energy, but they all have one thing in common: they're completely in awe when they come through that door and see the studio in real life.
This space is flexible enough to suit it all, whether that's crisp and editorial, warm and relaxed, high-energy group shots, or something quieter and more introspective.
Frequently Asked Questions About Shooting at No Filter Studios
Where is No Filter Studios?
It's in Birkenhead, just across the water from Liverpool city centre and easily reachable by car (have money ready for the tunnel) or train.
Is parking available near the studio?
Yes, there's parking nearby, which makes it straightforward to bring outfits, props, and anything else you need for the day.
Is No Filter Studios accessible?
Worth noting here: the studio is up a couple of flights of stairs, so if you have mobility considerations, get in touch before booking so we can discuss what's possible.
Is it suitable for group shoots?
Absolutely. The space is large enough to comfortably accommodate groups, which is why I run Click & Connect here every month.
What should I wear?
Honestly, anything. The studio is a bright white and neutral environment, so if anything, I'd say perhaps avoid white, especially in footwear - the floor is so white it often makes white shoes look yellow.
I'm based in Manchester or London. Is it worth travelling to Liverpool for this?
Several of my clients travel for shoots, and many say the change of scenery is part of what makes shoot day feel special rather than like another item on the to-do list. If you're curious about what that could look like, get in touch and we can talk it through
I've never done a brand shoot before. Will I know what to do?
Yes, completely. Every shoot includes guided direction, so you're never left standing there wondering what to do with your hands. Most clients say they felt far more relaxed than they expected once we get the music going and get started, although there's always a bit of a warm-up period, so give yourself grace as you start to settle in.
How to Shoot Here With Me
I run my frequent group photoshoot event, Click & Connect, at No Filter Studios.
It's designed for established female business owners who want a handful of professional brand images, rather than a full gallery, in a relaxed, enjoyable environment, without the pressure of navigating a solo shoot day.
I'm also bringing my upcoming Connectworking event here, a networking experience for women in business with a built-in content creation element.
It's unlike anything else in the Liverpool and Wirral area, and this space holds that kind of energy really well.
If you'd like to shoot here, whether one-to-one or as part of a group day, take a look at the packages below to find what fits:
